Reality is that not all healthy foods are exactly tasty, but being healthy doesn’t necessarily mean that food has to be boring. Like everything else in life, you just got to be a little more creative with your approach to healthy eating in order to make things more exciting. You don’t necessarily have to be completely healthy, just try to fit it into your daily menu. Eventually, it’ll become a habit & thus healthy choices will come more naturally than expected. Here’s a few ways on how I change up my eating routines to increase fruit & vegetable intake;

1. Add in different ingredients
Try new foods & explore how they taste when you mix them in with your usual ingredients.
¬ I dislike milk so my idea of cereal does not include milk. Instead, I replace it with fruits, berries & crushed nuts

2. Create new dressings/dips/sauces
Dressings/dips/sauces really keep things interesting, let alone ties the dish together. So play along with your taste buds, discover your favourites to create something that suits you.
¬ Passion fruits + olive oil as a dressing
¬ Avocado + crushed pistachios + chives for dippings
¬ Chopped: garlic + ginger + coriander + oyster sauce + olive oil + chilli as a sauce

3. Protein with salads
Don’t just have a salad, proteins are essential. The way you prepare your proteins can turn around that boring salad. I always marinate my protein prior to cooking/adding salad then top it off with a simple, light dressing.
¬ Protein: stir fry beef marinated in soy sauce + lemon grass + olive oil + salt + sugar, dressing: orange juice + balsamic vinegar + honey

4. Create presentable dishes
Challenge your creativity by creating dishes that everyone would want to eat at first sight, we do eat with our eyes after all. It could be a simple as cutting up your ingredients differently. I do this all the time with the foods I struggle to eat; cut them into smaller pieces.
¬ Fruits/vegetables act as refreshments for me hence I often add them to my dishes. Also, just to add a little colour to that dish which I find helps me eat better & in greater quantity so my dishes are often filled with colour
