USES FOR BREAST MILK

The struggle with baby eczema was real. Nova’s eczema flared during the day & it was really upsetting to witness her irritation. Finding a solution was like product after product. We trialed 4 different “organic” products where we did find one that seemed to have worked. Though I gotta admit that finding the right time to apply it onto her eczema was a total biatch. The only time where we could apply it on was when she was deep asleep so that she wouldn’t get it onto the hands & then into her mouth. A friend of ours suggested to “rub breast milk on it, organic & free”. It never crossed my mind to use breast milk for other uses apart from feeding, but hallelujah! It didn’t vanish completely, but made hella of an improvement as she wasn’t scratching it as much anymore nor did it flared up. We started application at 6 months old, wish we had done it sooner though cause it works so well! Nova’s eczema has been non existent for a good 2.5 weeks now before turning 8 months last week.

Out of curiosity I started applying breast milk on some of Nova’s wounds. I applied a small amount to half of the injured areas using my fingers while leaving the other half untouched. Within 2 days! The half I’d treated with breast milk had nearly disappeared vs the other half; had healed somewhat, but was still visible.

Freezing breast milk into popsicles! 3 in 1 with this one as you can help ease the pain of teething, create a delicious treat & make it fun for your baby. You can get these mini popsicle molds from Baby Bunting. Nova gets so easily bored & thus frustrated with her chewing toys so I attempted to make my own for her. It can get messy when it melts, but so far I think she enjoys this one very much. I use to think mixing breast milk with other foods was weird, but I tried it & my baby likes it so win win. If baby has been introduced to solids, you can try mixing in fruits or veggies to create more of a range. Either way it’ll still be delicious & nutritious for them.

Other Skin

So good that we’ve stuck with breast milk for all other skin irritations since, including rashes which means we’ve completely got rid of all other products. Nova has also been transitioning from breastfeeding to formula where she’s just slowly coming to accept the change & thus increasing her formula intake vs breastfeeding (finally!). I still have some express breast milk saved in the freezer which comes quite in handy. I just use it as a daily moisturiser for Nova now.
